Integrity

Verify your download

Every file is published together with its SHA-256 checksum. One command confirms that what you downloaded is exactly what we built.

  • Windows certutil -hashfile "Input Portal_0.1.30_x64-setup.exe" SHA256
  • macOS shasum -a 256 "Input Portal_0.1.30_aarch64.dmg"
  • Linux sha256sum "Input Portal_0.1.30_amd64.deb"

Compare the result with the SHA-256 on the file's card or in SHA256SUMS.txt.

First launch

What the operating system will ask

Input sharing needs a few permissions that the app requests when it first runs. Nothing is enabled silently, and the app has no telemetry.

Windows

  1. SmartScreen: "More info", then "Run anyway"
  2. Firewall: allow on private networks
  3. Runs in the system tray

macOS

  1. Drag the app to Applications
  2. Allow Input Monitoring and Accessibility
  3. Allow Screen Recording for Remote preview
  4. Allow Local Network

Linux

  1. Install the .deb package
  2. Wayland: approve the desktop portal once
  3. X11: your user may need /dev/uinput access
